Welcome to Blue Lagoon, Scheveningen's premier beach pavilion where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks with your feet in the sand and a view of the North Sea, 365 days a year. Established in 1985 on Strand Noord, we reopened after a thorough renovation in 2019 with a refreshed interior, an extensive menu, and the same hospitality that has set us apart for over 40 years.

Why Blue Lagoon

We are located directly on the beach at Strand Noord 25-27, not on the promenade with parking right outside. In good weather, you can dine on the terrace with the sea literally on your doorstep, and in bad weather, in the glass conservatory with the same view. The kitchen is open all day from 9:00 AM to 12:00 AM (Sundays from 8:00 AM), so you don't have to rush to get a table at lunchtime or dinnertime.

The menu ranges from freshly baked croissants and pancakes in the morning to tomahawk steaks, lobster, oysters and sushi in the evening, with an elaborate vegetarian selection and a children's menu. The cocktail bar offers both classics and its own creations, and the wine list complements the cuisine. Both reservations and walk-ins are welcome, though we recommend booking a table in advance during peak season and on weekends.

The pavilion, atmosphere and setting

Blue Lagoon started in the summer of 1985 as a simple beach pavilion and has since grown into a fully-fledged restaurant with a lounge bar, terrace, and event space. On 19 April 2018, the pavilion went up in flames. We reopened the next day at a temporary location and immediately pushed ahead with the reconstruction. On 1 March 2019, we reopened our doors in the same spot, with a new, lighter interior and more extensive facilities than before the fire.

What remains: the relaxed atmosphere, the sea view, and the feeling that you don't need to rush. What has changed: a larger hall, a better kitchen, a more extensive menu, and more space on the terrace. on a weekday afternoon, you can sit here peacefully with a laptop and coffee; on a summer evening, the pavilion joins a continuous beach vibe with cocktails and music until the early hours.

The map, breakfast to dinner

Our kitchen works with fresh seasonal ingredients, local suppliers where possible, and international specialities where they enhance the menu. A daily overview by time of day follows below. The full menu with all dishes and allergy information is available on our menu.

 

Breakfast (until 12:00)

With the sea right in front of you and a decent breakfast. Avocado with poached egg on sourdough (£14), pancakes with mascarpone and seasonal fruit (£14), overnight oats with yoghurt and granola (£12), or a breakfast board with croissant, ham, cheese, jam and yoghurt (£14 to 15). In addition, separate eggs, toast, fresh fruit, and speciality coffees. On Sunday mornings, we're open from 8:00 AM for those who want to sit on the beach early.

Lunch (until 16:00)

The lunch menu ranges from a classic chicken burger (€21) and beef teriyaki salad (€20) to a poke bowl with tuna or salmon (€19), fish and chips with cod and fries (€17), and a changing selection of wraps and sandwiches between €14 and €21. Plus soups, salads and smaller dishes. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are standard.

Dinner (from 12:00)

The dinner menu is broader than lunch and available from 12:00 for those who wish to enjoy a more substantial meal earlier. Starters begin around €9 for a soup, half a dozen oysters costs €24, tuna tataki with sesame and soy dressing €19, and gambas piri piri €18.

Onze specialiteiten zijn de Lobster dishes (€37 to 39), the Seafood platter for two people (€36 to €38 per person) and the tomahawk steak from 800 grams for two people (£84). From the grill, we serve whole sea bream (£28), tuna steak medium rare (£28), and salmon fillet (£27); on the meat side, rump steak (£26), Angus burger with truffle mayo (£23), and spare ribs with homemade sauce (£22).

For vegetarians, we have, among other things, grilled aubergine with tahini and pomegranate (€22), ravioli with seasonal filling (€21), and pizza from our own oven (€18 to €22).

Desserts and children's menu

For the sweet finale: Caramello Oreo (€14), Tiramisu (€13), and Melting Marshmallow (€12). The children's menu features Bambino pizza, Nemo fish, and Pino chicken nuggets, all €11.

Cocktail bar and wine list

The cocktail bar runs on fresh ingredients, classic recipes, and a few house creations. We do Aperol Spritz, Espresso Martini, Negroni, Mojito, Old Fashioned, and seasonal specials. For non-drinkers, there's an extensive mocktail menu. The wine list ranges from affordable by the glass to special bottles for a long evening, and our sommelier can advise on dishes from the menu. We also have draught beer (Heineken plus seasonal specials) and homemade lemonades.

Blue Lagoon caters to a wide variety of guests. Locals from The Hague and the surrounding area looking for a spot by the sea that doesn't feel like a tourist trap. Hotel guests from the Kurhaus, Carlton Beach or NH Atlantic within walking distance. Day-trippers who want to eat something after a walk on the Pier or a visit to SEA LIFE. Reserve

Online booking is available via our website. For groups of 8 people or more, or for special requests (children's parties, allergies, company outings), please email events@bluelagoon.nl or you call 070 350 12 25. During peak season (May to September) and on sunny weekend days, we recommend booking at least a week in advance, especially for terrace tables.

We cater for dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, and allergies. Please inform us when you make your reservation so that we can prepare it in the kitchen. For groups of 12 or more, we offer a bespoke group menu or package.

Location and accessibility

We are located on the northern part of the boulevard, at Strand Noord 25-27, past the Kurhaus towards Scheveningen Harbour. From Den Haag CS, you can reach us in about 25 minutes by tram 1 or 9 (get off at the Kurhaus stop and walk for 5 minutes). By car from The Hague city centre, it’s about 15 minutes via the Scheveningseweg or Nieuwe Parklaan. Kurhaus car park and Nieuwe Parklaan car park, both within walking distance, offer over 1500 spaces between them; parking on the boulevard itself is limited. For guests staying overnight, the Kurhaus, Carlton Beach, and NH Atlantic hotels are within walking distance.

Faq

Is Blue Lagoon a restaurant or a beach bar?

Both. We are a full-service restaurant with an extensive menu, and at the same time a beach pavilion where you can simply have a drink without eating. One flows seamlessly into the other.

Can I just walk in without a reservation?

Yes, that's certainly possible. During quiet periods (weekdays outside of the high season) there is almost always space. During the high season and weekends, we do advise booking in advance, especially for the terrace.

What time does the kitchen close?

The kitchen is open until approximately 10:30 PM. For snacks and cocktails, we are open until 12:00 AM.

Can I have breakfast in the morning?

Yes. We are open Monday to Saturday from 09:00 and on Sundays from 08:00. Breakfast is served until 12:00, after which we switch to the lunch menu.

Do you have a vegetarian or vegan menu?

Vegetarian options are extensive on both the lunch and dinner menus. Vegan options are available on request, please state this when booking.

Do you take allergies into account?

Yes: gluten-free, lactose-free, and common allergies are accommodated as standard. Please mention this when you make your reservation.

Is there a children's menu?

Yes, with Bambino pizza, Nemo wings and Pino chicken nuggets, €11 per dish. High chairs are available.

Can I reserve the terrace?

When booking online, you can request a terrace table as a preference. In good weather, the terrace fills up quickly, so book at least a few days in advance.

Are you dog-friendly?

Dogs are welcome on the terrace (provided they are kept on a lead) and indoors by appointment during the winter. From May to September, dogs are prohibited on the beach between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

Can I hold a meeting, wedding or company party at Blue Lagoon?
