Why celebrate a children's party here

A children's party in the city centre can often be a hassle. Too busy, not enough space, nowhere to run around outside. It's different at Scheveningen beach.

Here, children have the beach as their playground right outside their door, a terrace with space for their own table, and a pavilion where indoor play is just as fun. We're situated in the quieter northern part of Scheveningen, away from the tourist crowds, yet still reachable from The Hague Central Station within 25 minutes.

What a children's party at Blue Lagoon can be like

No birthday is the same, so we tailor each party. We combine these elements most often.

  • Playing on the beach, with treasure hunts, sandcastle building, ball games or an organised beach challenge. Buckets and spades are available on request; we arrange paddleboarding or bodyboarding through partners.
  • Eating from the children's menu, with Bambino pizza, Nemo fish and chips, and Pino chicken nuggets for €11 per child. Custom portions and dietary requirements are no problem.
  • Your own decorated table on the terrace or indoors, with high chairs if needed and a cooler for the cake you've brought.
  • Drinks for the whole group, from squash and smoothies to hot chocolate with cream. For parents, there's coffee, soft drinks, or a cocktail ready.

What age and group size

The pavilion is suitable for all ages. For the youngest children (3 to 6 years old), it’s about having space to move around, for primary school-aged children (7 to 11 years old), beach activities and a treasure hunt work best, and for teenagers, a relaxed afternoon, for example with a workshop on non-alcoholic cocktails, is ideal.

A typical children's birthday party

Most parties for 8 to 15 children follow this structure. Arrival around 2 p.m. with a welcome drink, followed by games on the beach or an organised activity until 4 p.m., supervised by someone from your own circle or a partner we arrange.

Around 4:00 PM, there will be a break with refreshments, after which the group will sit down for dinner. In case of bad weather, the beach activities will move indoors and the party will continue as planned, with the same sea view.

Location and accessibility

You can find us at Strand Noord 25-27, past the Kurhaus towards the harbour. From The Hague Central Station, it's a 25-minute tram ride on line 1 or 9 (Kurhaus stop), and about a 15-minute drive by car. Car parks are within walking distance.

Reservation and quote

Email to events@bluelagoon.nl of call 070 350 12 25 for a personalised quote. Please state your desired date, the age of the birthday person, the number of children and adults, your preferred activity, and any dietary requirements.

For weekend dates during peak season, we advise planning at least 3 weeks in advance. For weekday dates outside of peak season, this is more flexible.

Faq

What does a children's party cost at Blue Lagoon?

We work with tailor-made packages because the price depends on age, number of children, chosen activity, and food. The children's menu itself costs €11 per child. For a complete afternoon with activity, food, and drinks, you can expect to pay €25 to €45 per child, depending on what you choose.

From how many children can I book a party?

From 6 children for your own arrangement. For smaller groups, you can go to the regular restaurant with a reserved table and children's menu.

How many children can we fit?

For up to approximately 25 children plus adults. For larger groups or multiple classes at once, we discuss exclusive use.

What age is this suitable for?

For all ages, from toddlers to teenagers. We tailor the programme to the age of the birthday child and the group.

Does it also work in bad weather?

Yes. Beach activities will be moved indoors, and the party will continue in the pavilion with the same sea view.

Do you take allergies into account?

Common allergies, vegetarian, gluten-free, lactose-free. Please state any dietary requirements when making your reservation.

Can I bring my own cake?

Yes, we do that often. Please let us know when you make your reservation that you'll be bringing a cake; we can arrange refrigeration for your arrival.

Can I play on the beach?

Yes, the beach in front of the pavilion is public and offers space for sandcastles, ball games, and beach activities. We have basic equipment (buckets, spades) available upon request.

Can I organise beach sports or stand-up paddleboarding for children?

Yes, through partners on the boulevard. For children aged 6 or 7 and older, there are organised sessions with instruction. Discuss this when you get your quote.

How much guidance should I bring myself?

For children under 8 years old, we recommend a minimum of 1 adult per 5 children. We will oversee the catering and any activities at the pavilion, but not the supervision of the children themselves.
